Yahoo! buys del.icio.us, puts tagging on the map

This is a very interesting news. I wonder what Google is doing in terms of acquiring the latest popular websites.

To me, the acquisition makes great sense as tagging has very good potential to improve searches, particularly within a trusted community.

On the other hand, it could also be subject to TAG Spam once it hits critical mass. It will probably become another nightmare for search engines as Black Hats could leverage tags for Search Engine Optimization.

I wonder how Yahoo! will handle the integration of del.icio.us with Yahoo! 360.
